The vast ocean that surrounds you on all sides seems to stretch to eternity. Far out in the deep, the waves seem quiet, and the sense of peace is all embracing. A sudden ‘whoosh’ shatters the calm as a gush of water spouts high into the air. The sea parts in the middle, ripples scattering to either side. An immense form rises out of the depths, curving gracefully. The ginormous tail hangs spectacularly over the ocean for a moment, before sliding back down with an almighty splash. As your boat sways, you hang tight and stand awestruck at the spectacle you’ve just witnessed. The largest creature on earth, has just honoured you with a privileged view. Big Discoveries will let you focus on two of Sri Lanka’s magnificent greats – Whales and leopards in two entirely different habitats; the Northwest, and the South of the island. Excursions out to the ocean seeking the company of its giants interspersed with others into the jungles in search of the sleek powerhouse of the forest roaming free. Then, sitting out by the fire at your luxury campsite you can ponder on the day’s adventures with a contented smile.
